Backup Gmail contacts?

We are planning to add the Gmail contacts backup function to Gmail Keeper, do you have such a requirement? If yes, what format do you prefer to use for storing your Gmail contacts in your local PC?

Any comments will be welcomed.

For manual Gmail contacts backup or Google Apps contacts backup, you can check this how-to tutorial.

Yes, I definitely would like to be able to save as backup all my gmail contacts in my MAC. i do not understand your question about what format.

    Hi Gini,

I asked the question about format because Gmail Keeper save backup data to zip archives, and the backup data (emails, contacts, etc) are files themselves, so a file format must be chosen for storing the contacts. This maybe not a problem anymore because I am planning to add a Gmail-like UI for viewing and searching the backup data including emails, labels and contacts.

CSV, just keep it plain and simple.

Especially if you are integrating this in a GUI, in that case there is no need for a more user friendly format I suppose.
